You dance over me, while I am unaware.
Hosea 2:14 Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak tenderly to her.
A friend showed me this verse last week, and I have been meditating on the beauty of these words. Why? Because they are just what my heart needs to hear, right now, and I love how the Bible speaks to my soul in every season. So dive into the verse with me. “I will allure her,” so loving and intimate. God is alluring me. That means I am so special to him that he will take precious time to draw or lead me. Then “bring her into the wilderness,” and I wonder why the wilderness? The desert is an amazing place. It is a place of extremes, where few living things can survive, but there is life in the desert and amazing beauty. So if God allures me to the wilderness, what does he want to tell me or teach me? Maybe that I cannot do this life on my own, that I need him. I also think he wants to take me to a place where he can spend time with me alone, to a place where I cannot survive without Him. There he will “speak tenderly.” This brings tears to my eyes, because I know that he speaks tenderly to me. Sometimes, I ignore it or have too much distraction to hear it, and sometimes, I don’t want to hear it. Even then, he is still there speaking tenderly to my heart, but the best place to hear these tender words is in the desert, when I am desperate for help and hope. Then I can hear and drink deeply of the water that only he can provide. John 7: 37-38 If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, “Out of the heart will flow rivers of living water.”
On Sunday morning we sang this song at church, and the words were just another reminder of this intimacy he longs to have with me.
You dance over me, while I am unaware. You sing all around, but I never hear the sound. Lord, I’m amazed by you.
Lord, make my heart open to your tender words. I want to experience this through all the seasons of my life, but especially—today—in the desert!

As for the song “Amazed” I want to translate it in Bulgarian but there is a line that is not very clear. What is the preposition OVER stand together with DANCE?

You dance over me, while I am unaware. That is the line from the song. Translating is tricky. It has a supernatural feel like the Spirit dancing above and around, that is how I interpret it. Does that help you?

Love, love, love, love, love-thankyou 🙂 The Lord actually gave me a vision of my present season, where He was leading me to be alone with Him in the desert and to draw from Him. It’s been 2yrs, and I’m still learning what this means, and what it calls for in my life. I accidentally stumbled upon your blog by searching for this song, and when I read your talk about the ‘desert,’ my heart thumped, and was encouraged! Thank you, Lord! 🙂

The desert is a hard place to stay for long, but it is definitely a place where our faith is challenged most. It has been a long journey for me too, and I hope the lessons I am learning will be something I never forget. Thanks for sharing about of your journey. Blessings!

Found your blog when searching for Zephaniah 3:17, which is a line in the song Amazed. Finding Hosea 3:14, the grounding of your thoughts in this post, is another gem in scripture. Thanks for taking the time to post and share.
